Amerlux Wins Twice at IES Philadelphia 2023 SLOTS and DOTS EXPO
Carisma 3″ Linear and Solace Shallow Downlights Secure Top Spots in Two Event Competitions
OAKLAND, N.J. – November 14, 2023 – Amerlux, an award-winning design-and-manufacture lighting company, announced today that its 3″ Carisma linear pendant and 3″ Solace downlight collections won a pair of industry competitions judged solely by peer designers and specifiers at the recent IES Philadelphia 2023 SLOTS and DOTS EXPO Showdown.
The extruded-aluminum 3″ Carisma linear collection, featuring an elegant edge-to-edge lens that delivers industry-leading efficacy and maximum lumens per watt, clinched the top position in the competition’s SLOTS (linear) Tier 1 category. Later, the spec-grade, ultra-shallow Solace 3″ downlight series, which requires just over two inches of plenum for an easy installation, won first place in the DOTS (downlights) Tier 3 category.
“Achieving first-place honors in two highly competitive categories at such a major event underscores the trust and recognition our products have garnered within the professional community,” said Bill Plageman, VP of Marketing at Amerlux. “Bottom line: If our architectural lighting solutions can captivate the detailed-oriented audiences of specifiers and designers in Philadelphia, a hub known for its rich architectural heritage and trendsetting influence, they can captivate the audience in any application and design scenario.”
The IES Philadelphia 2023 SLOTS and DOTS EXPO Showdown caters to up-and-coming and experienced lighting professionals. The event emphasizes an unbiased evaluation of lighting products, free from brand influence or external input. A panel of specifiers and designers anonymously reviewed each lighting solution, ensuring an impartial and fair selection process.
The event’s format, akin to a blind taste test for lighting, allowed reviewers to use a scorecard to rate their favorite fixtures in each category. This setup provided a valuable platform for emerging professionals to develop their opinions about new lighting products while allowing experienced specifiers to discover recent advancements in architectural lighting—like those at Amerlux.
Why Carisma Won
With a sleek, edge-to-edge lens design, Carisma’s range of architectural linear luminaires stands out for their superior performance, quality, value and visual appeal. Its integrated optical system also minimizes optical losses, which allows for industry-leading efficacy that meets the stringent requirements for DLC Listing.
Featuring 2″ (pendant and recessed) and 3″ (recessed) aperture options, the Carisma family can be arranged as individual units, continuous rows or unique patterns in retail, commercial and institutional applications. Customization is precise to the nearest 1/8″, with pendant, surface, wall and recessed mounting options available.
Why Solace Won
From crammed electrical and IT equipment to cluttered HVAC and ductwork, Solace provides peace of mind by instantly solving any surprises that may arise when the ceiling is pulled back.
The plenum downlight collection, featuring round or square 3″ apertures, boasts remarkably shallow recessed depths—only 2¼ inches for standard and wall wash models and less than 3¾ inches for adjustable versions. It’s further customizable with optional Solite lensing and comes in trimmed, trimless or millwork styles. The collection’s pinhole and shower pinhole trims provide a cohesive design element for retail and commercial ambient and task lighting.
